Does 3DTV Have A Solid Future?
It was the ultimate test. Could 3DTV get geeks inside from the beautiful scenery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Just outside the window of the private home I was fortunate enough to visit today are the Grand Tetons. Yet inside we were sitting, watching 3DTV. Now, I’m sure some of you will say “what a horrid shame.” Don’t worry about us, we’re going back outside now, but we were here to hear a talk by Sandy Climan, CEO of 3ality Digital and get his view of the state of the art of 3DTV (audio interview I did with him after the talk).

Toshiba Fights Back With The “Touch” Netbook
The iPad is highly popular around the world and is taking market share away from netbooks. That much you can see all around you.
But, how could the other manufacturers fight back?

The iPhone 4 Versus The Best Android-based Phones
So, since I haven’t carried an iPhone around with me for more than a week and I got an up and close look at the iPhone 4 today here’s my list of the pros and cons of iPhone 4 vs. the Sprint EVO or Verizon’s Incredible (the two best Android-based phones out there).

Press Announcements Start To Flood In For The Apple Tablet
Appcelerator, which is a company that makes a developer tool/platform for developing native mobile and desktop apps by using HTML, Javascript, and its own API library, tonight is announcing Apple Tablet support and has also taken a poll of its 18,000 developers and found that 90% of its developers said they plan to build a Tablet application over the coming year. Also that most of its developers have already put Apple Tablet development behind iPhone and Android platform, but ahead of Blackberry, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile, and Symbian.

Will The Palm Pre Break The iPhone’s Hold?
At CES the product I was most excited by was the Palm Pre. After all, they had hired a bunch of people from Apple and it went further than the iPhone in many places. It had a keyboard. It has an OS that let you run multiple applications at the same time (something the iPhone doesn’t do) and did copy and paste. The OS seemed even better thought out than the iPhone was. Contacts collected data from Facebook and other social networks.
It looked like it would win in the marketplace.
But now it’s March and the tides are changing.
First, last week Apple came out with a set of APIs for the iPhone that many people missed because they were drinking at SXSW. More on those in a second.
But today stuff is leaking about a new iPhone that’s coming out.
Now I’m starting to doubt whether Palm can make it. I’m not the only one.

What Is The Best Pocket Camera?
So, back when I got a Flip Mino HD video camera Chris Pirillo gave me a bunch of heck and said I bought the wrong camera. He reviewed the Flip against the Kodak Zi6 and the Creative Vado HD. He said the Creative Vado HD is the best. His videos sure seem to prove that, don’t they.

iPhone Gets Streaming Video App
I just got a note that Qik just shipped into beta on the iPhone. I’ll be testing this out and will let you know what I think. One thing, the quality isn’t expected to be as good as what I get on my Nokia phones for two reasons:
1. The compression is being done in software on the iPhone, where on Nokia phones there’s hardware support for that.
2. The camera isn’t close to as good, particularly in low light.
But, that said, lots of people only have iPhones, and don’t have Nokia phones, so this will let a lot of people do streaming video from their cell phones that couldn’t do it before.

Cell Phone Versus Professional Camera
You can’t compare a $3,000 digital SLR to a $500 cell phone from Nokia, can you? Well, look at these two photos. Which one was made with the Canon 5D with a 50mm F1.4 lens and which one was made with a Nokia N82 cell phone?
You can visit my Flickr account to see which camera made which images and you’ll see some other comparison photos and other images that I’ve made with the Nokia N82. Make sure you click on the “All Sizes” option to see the full resolution images to really compare.
Yes, if you look closely the images made with the pro SLR are nicer, but that isn’t the point. The point is that photos made with cell phones are getting to be darn good. The worst photo you’ll ever take is the one you don’t take because you didn’t have your camera with you. Read more

The Disruptive Dilemma Of The Entrepreneur
Andrew Mobbs, managing director of the Hatchery, has a big dream. He wants to move the world off of credit cards and onto using their cell phones to pay for things.
He’s not the first to have that dream, but I think he’s thought through some of the problems better than other people I’ve talked to about this so far. He is in Silicon Valley today, visiting from London, UK, which is where he’s located.
But that’s not what was interesting about my breakfast with him this morning. What I found really interesting was his dilemma as an entrepreneur. What is it?
